The Kwahu Easter Excursion delivered an unforgettable experience packed into just two days. This adventure gave us the chance to explore some of Ghana’s most breath-taking tourist attractions, including Abetifi Stone Age Park, Nkrofieho Cave Mountain, Tafo Waterfalls, Eco Raven Mountain, and the peaceful Afram Plains. Whether you’re a nature lover, adventure seeker, or cultural explorer, this trip offered something for everyone.
Nkrofieho Cave Adventure
Day 1 of our Kwahu Easter adventure at the cave mountain was a thrilling blend of excitement and challenge. The climb required ropes and strong footing, especially since rain from the day before had made the path slippery. However, once inside, we stepped into a world of mystery. With flashlights in hand, we navigated a network of tunnels , each holding its own secret. Our guide explained many people have attempted to reach the tunnel’s end but some never made it back. Echoes of birds filled the space, a strange phenomenon considering the absence of visible food or plants.
We also encountered a natural “prayer spot” deep within the cave, believed by some to hold spiritual power. The descent was narrow and messy, and by the time we exited we were covered in dirt but smiling from ear to ear.
Echoes at Eco Raven Mountain
Next, we visited Eco Raven Mountain, a place that left us both amused and amazed. Here, every word we shouted echoed back, hence its name. The echoes made the experience playful and surreal. Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay long, as daylight was fading and we had one more location to visit.
Tafo Waterfalls – Nature’s Music & Majesty
Arriving at Tafo Waterfalls felt like stepping into a music video set in paradise. The sound of cascading water mixed with the beat of local music created a vibrant atmosphere. Visitors danced, splashed in the natural pool, and soaked in the joy of the moment. Although we wished for more time there, we needed to return and rest for what came next.
Abetifi Stone Age Park – Art, History & Nature
Day two took us to Abetifi Stone Age Park, a beautiful space nestled high on the mountain. The park combines art, culture, and history with impressive clay and stone sculptures including a giraffe, a gorilla, and the towering “Papa Tintin” figure. The park offered a peaceful environment with wide landscape views, making it perfect for relaxation. Families enjoyed the playground area, which added an extra layer of fun for kids.

Afram Plains – Serenity on the River
Our final destination was at Afram Plains, where the Afram River meets Lake Volta. The location was serene: children swam, boats ferried travellers, and calm filled the air. We hopped on a boat for a ride across the river. At its centre, a lone tree branch marked the halfway point. The ride was so smooth and calming we barely noticed when we began our return.
A Journey to Remember
This two-day trip through the Kwahu mountains was more than just a getaway. From mysterious caves and echoing mountains to crashing waterfalls, artistic landscapes, and tranquil rivers, we experienced the richness of Ghana’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
